The self-actualization needs

The self-actualization needs: The character Noah had met the self-actualization needs which are the last needs that the person meets to make actuals from his potentials. Noah is a positive and energetic person as he continued repairing allies dream house; although, he saw her kissing another guy “her fiancĂ©”. After finishing the house Noah’s extrinsically motivation let him to put the house on sale as there were great amount of money offered by the buyers; however, Noah’s intrinsically motivation did not let him sell the house as it reminds him about the promise that he made with Allie. In addition, He did not think that life had been meaningless to him as he lost everything despite his father and his best friend. Also he was unselfish, as he did not take an action towards Allie fiancĂ© that he got married approval from her family while he did not. However, something moved him and let him start rebuilding the house by thinking if he repair it Allie might see it and get back to him. Being positive, energetic and unselfish helped Noah to get Allie back and live happy ever after.

The esteem needs


The esteem needs: The character reached the esteem need as he was self-confident. Noah had a feeling for Allie when he first met her in the amusement park, and when he talked to her for the first time he asked her for a dance. Noah was not fearful or weak when he asked for a dance even though he did not put a possibility that he might scroll things up and fail to get her. He kept trying until he succeeded and got a promise from her to have a date with him. Noah was also able to take risk and try something new. He was lying on the street watching the signals changing and then he stand up and danced with Allie. Noah had also a self-belief of himself by saying “I can be fun, offensive, smart, superstition and brave” to Allie to get into relationship with her. Another self-belief was found in the scene when Noah said to the nurse “big day today” and the nurse replied “you say that everyday big devil”. This shows that Noah had a self-belief that his wife Allie one day she will remember him.

The belongingness and love needs


The belongingness and love needs: The character Noah met the belongingness and love needs, as he was not lonely and rejected in the society. He knew some people in the town for example, Tomy the guy who works in the park. Noah had also a friend called Fin, he was one of his best friends that they were working together and they were together in the WWII. In addition, Noah had fall in love with a girl called Allie. The girl is from a high level class family compared to Noah. The relationship between Noah and Allie were mentioned in the scene “They didn’t agree on much. In fact, they didn’t agree on anything. They fought all the time and challenged each other every day. But despite their differences, they had one important thing in common. They were crazy about each other”. Noah had also a very lovely father who encourages him to learn for example when the father asked Noah to read some Whitman’s poems to have better reading skills.

The safety needs



The safety needs: After meeting the physiological need the character should move to the safety need. Noah moved to the safety need by establishing a financial safety. Noah has a job with a salary of 40 cent in an hour, which is not considered as a high income to some people that provide financial security; however, Noah’s income meet his needs. This can be proved in the scene when he was sitting with Allie’s family at lunch time, they asked him about his income and he said 40 cents, which draw a huge shock in Ally’s Family, and he was saying it proudly as he said I don’t mind it provides me satisfaction.

The physiological needs


The physiological needs: Noah has met the physiological need by living in his father house that provided him with food and beverages, an example of that when the father cooked dinner for Noah & Allie. In addition, when Noah made his dream house and invited Allie for dinner and they were eating and drinking until they were full. Noah rose in a poor family; he chose to work instead of finishing high school. He receives a low income which it is to him provides an environment that satisfies his needs.

summary


The notebook is a love story of two lovely couple. It started with the old man telling the story of his love relationship with his wife who suffers from Alzheimer (kind of disease that kills the brain cells and get memory lost). During the movie he is trying to let her remember their relationship. The old man started to read the book to the old women in a nursing house about a boy called Noah that is from poor family loving a girl called Allie from rich family. Noah showed Allie his dream house that he wishes to buy, repair it and make love. However, there is a problem in which Allie’s family is not accepting Noah as he is from a different social class. So they had to break up. Allie then moved to New York to attend collage as the summer vacation finished. Noah wrote forgiveness letters to Allie, but her mother was hiding them from her. Allie worked as an army nurse. She met an injured soldier Lon in the hospital. After the war, they met each other again. Lon was wealthy and handsome, and he proposed to her and they were about to married. Noah bought and repaired the old house and many people wanted to buy it but he refused. When Allie accidentally saw the photo of Noah and his house in a newspaper, she was confused between her first love and her commitment with Lon. She decided to meet him to see if he still loves her and finally Allie need to choose who to live with the rest of her life.
